From Carley Jae to Cott & Cloth

On November 24, Carley Jae Good, a name I held for 7 years, swiftly turned into Cott & Cloth. If you were following along around that time, you witnessed the big launch, my awesome team, and saw how excited and nervous I was for this huge change.

Carley Jae started when I was 18 years old, but the name actually came from way before that. Growing up, I dreamed about owning a small boutique, to the point where I would sit through Wednesday night church (Sorry, Dad!) and doodle dress designs, store layouts and logos of all kinds. The daydreaming boutique was always named Carley J, after my middle name, Jordan. Fast forward many, many years when the idea of opening an Etsy shop came to be, I didn't think twice and immediately chose, Carley Jae.

With so much growth, not only in the business but in my own life, I decided it was time for an upgrade, a new name.

Oh boy, was it a struggle to find the right name!

Cotton & Co.

It Is Well Boutique

Well & Co.

Carley & Co.

Miggs & Co.

(can you tell I liked & Co?)

All of these were close.... but not it. Whether it was taken, too long, too werid, too much like this or like that, nothing fit.

Then Cott & Cloth was mentioned...

I finally wrote it down, prayed over it, and really focused on my meaning behind it and instantly fell in love.

Cott // this word represents a couple of things. First, my last name. HesCOTT. This is my married name and represents my husband, my boys, and my family. They mean more to me than anything and I want to constantly be reminded to keep them first, love them first. Secondly, this is a shortened word for Cotton, which happens to be what most of my products are made out of, and one of my favorites to work with.

Cloth // this represents Proverbs 31 as a whole. The women that I strive, but fail often, to be. The women who is trusted by her husband, works with her hands, CLOTHed in strength and dignity, opens her hands to the poor and in need. This is a constant reminder to dive into Gods word and be present.

So, there it is.

The meaning behind the change. I am SUPER proud of this rebrand and so so thankful for all of YOU who have loved, supported and purchased from me. I am truly, truly thankful.
